MG hitchhiker in Costa Rica

If you haven’t been checking out our My Hemmings pages on Hemmings.com, you’ve been missing out on some great stuff. Excellent rides, expansive photo galleries and captivating stories, such as the one from Ed Praxel of Amanda Park, Washington. Ed wrote about a trip he and his wife took in July/August 1963 from Spokane, Washington, to Panama on the new Pan American Highway:

The hydrolastic suspension absorbed the often harsh road surfaces in a commendable manner and the front wheel drive proved weight on the front wheels was an advantage when negotiating slide areas such as the “El Tapon” (the stopper) in Guatemala. All of these features were of benefit in climbing the 11,500 ft. “Cerro de la Muerte” (Mountain of Death) south of San Jose, Costa Rica.

He included some awesome photos of the trek as well, leaving us wanting more.
